It only launched in the US a few months back, but already the ILIA Pure Lip has been picked up across the pond by Content. So what’s all the fuss about? For a start the packaging is incredibly beautiful pushing the organic sector into a whole new league. The sleek, recycled aluminum casing has been buffed matte and has the look and feel of a true luxury product you’d be proud to pull from your pocket (yes we are suckers for stylish packaging!).
The first ILIA Lip Care product to hit the market has been touted as the ultimate all-in-one balm, gloss and lipstick. But don’t think ‘just another tinted lip balm’ these little bullets of colour feel much more like a luxury sheer lipstick that can be layered to increase colour intensity. Very moisturising without the sticky consistency of a gloss each one is created with 85% certified organic, bioactive botanicals including the moisturising elements of jojoba oil, cocoa butter and Vitamin E.
We like the inclusion of fresh pomegranate to deliver natural antioxidants for protection against free radicals. Essential oils of jasmine and orange blossom create an uplifting scent to rouse the senses. The result – a pure lip care free of synthetic preservatives, fillers and petrochemicals. [Note for transparency: some colours do include less than 0.3% synthetic – but more than safe – colour, so those wishing to avoid all synthetic ingredients check the ingredients of your chosen colour. ILIA holds full membership of the Compact for Safe Cosmetics and is listed on EWG.]

We’ve been wearing the Arabian Knights non-stop since sampling the range and love the Shell Shock and Bang Bang for the SS11 bright lip trend. Keep your eyes open for future posts on how Lou gets on using these in a professional capacity on set and an interview with the founder Sasha Plavsic. We predict a bright (lip-smacking) future for this brand!
