Product of the week – Lush Popcorn Lip Scrub

I don’t know about you but this ongoing confused cold weather is playing hazard with my skin.  Everywhere’s a little bit dry and in need of extra moisture.  My poor old lips are getting a rough deal as are most of the model’s lips on my jobs.  I’m finding that a lot of the girls we’re shooting with are suffering with dry, flakey lips.  No matter how much lip balm we use, they still look dry – not a good look especially if you’re shooting close-up beauty.  There is the old trick of applying lots of balm and then gently scrubbing the lips with an old toothbrush which is a good trick.  Or, a much more fun way is to use the Popcorn Lip Scrub from Lush.  It has an ingredient list which is so good you can literally eat it, which is handy as you inevitably do.  Castor sugar is at the top followed by jojoba oil, sea salt, polenta, coconut oil and popping candy flavour.  It smells divine.  It really is a little pot of sugar coated in some good oils.

Scoop a little out and start to massage it gently into the lips, apply more pressure on drier areas to help shift any loose skin.  It can get messy so have a face wipe on hand to wipe any excess away.  I always do it at the beginning of the make-up so you can then apply some balm and let it sit for a while.  I quite often do it again when touching up make-up after lunch as dry lips are often very stubborn and don’t want to go away.  The scrub leaves lips a lot smoother and softer, whether you’re wearing a natural lip or a bright lip it makes them look and feel much better.

Good replacement for the Jane Iredale lip scrub which is outrageously expensive (it comes with a lip plumping stick). I wonder if it is gluten-free though… I will look into it!

Can’t be completely sure about the gluten but definitely a bargain buy at £5.25 – I think it will last a good while.
